Xtreme Sleeper Commentary

Blake Griffin

Blake Griffin is one of our biggest breakout candidates heading into the 2011-2012 fantasy basketball season. Griffin is going to be sought after in a major way entering the 2011-2012 fantasy season, no question, but we think he can be a top 2-3 overall player when all is said and done… so he still has sleeper potential! He could arguably finish as the No. 1 fantasy basketball scorer come season’s end in 2011-2012… Crazy? Well, that’s what people said about our Derrick Rose predictions last off-season.. and how did that work out? During his second season, which was really his first campaign, Griffin averaged 22.5 points, 12.1 rebounds, and 3.8 assists per game. That’s an insane first run in the NBA… Griffin should up those numbers in every category by a decent amount this upcoming season… don’t hesitate to go bold and draft this kid as a top four fantasy forward next season! Again, he is capable of way more than even that, which means that he still has “sleeper” written all over him entering the 2011-2012 fantasy basketball season.

Kobe Bryant

Kobe Bryant is very underrated this year in most early mocks. Word is that the stud is healthy and he “has his hops back.” Kobe had an experimental procedure on his knee this off-season, and it appears that the surgery was a success. I know, Kobe is 33… I know, Kobe has played 15 NBA seasons… the reason I’m not worried? A short season! Would I worry about Kobe heading into this season if he was facing 82 games? Yes, honestly I would, because I’d be concerned he sit quite often in order to rest up for the playoffs. A 66-game season couldn’t have come at a better time for Bryant, who I believe can have one more ELITE season left… and I’m thinking top 5-10 overall.

John Wall

Ok, so we brought you Derrick Rose last year, and we screamed that one from the rooftops. Well, here comes one of my top 2011-2012 breakout candidates! John Wall is going to explode during his second NBA season… Last year, Wall averaged 16.4 points, 4.6 rebounds and 8.3 assists per game. What kind of stats can Wall produce in the 2011-2012 NBA season, assuming we have one? How about 20-24 points, 5-6 rebounds and 10+ assists per game. Yep, that’s right… those stats are very close to Derrick Rose’s during his breakout performance, which again we predicted. In fact, Wall will likely average 3 more assists than Rose next season, and 2-3 more rebounds per game. Rose should have him by 2-4 more scoring points per game, but this means Wall is the next Derrick Rose… who do you like them apples?

Stephen Curry

Stephen Curry is one of our favorite breakouts heading into 2011-2012. It’s October, and it’s sleeper time. Last year, the rising star averaged 18.6 points, 3.9 rebounds and 5.8 assists per game. He should have no trouble kicking those points well into the 20s, and he should average 1-2 more rebounds and 2-3 more assists per game this upcoming NBA season. Curry could arguably finish inside the top 2-4 for fantasy guards in 2011-2012… too bold? Again, how did our “crazy” Derrick Rose predictions workout last year? John Wall and Stephen Curry are this year’s closest versions of last year’s Derrick Rose! Mark it down!

Greg Monroe

Now that we officially have an NBA season to watch, it is sleeper time! Greg Monroe exploded last season during his rookie campaign. Most entering this fantasy season will look at his overall numbers of 9.4 points and 7.5 rebounds per game, which won’t standout as incredible, but Monroe really wasn’t unleashed until midway through last season. During the last three months of last season, Monroe averaged a double-double almost half of the time. He also frequently had a cup of coffee with 20 and 10. Monroe should turn heads during his second NBA season, and he should average a double-double if he can stay clear form injury. Trust in this kid in 2011-2012, he is a monster sleeper of ours!

Other Sleepers

Jrue Holiday and Brandon Jennings both have bust potential, no question, but when it comes to no-risk/high-reward types this year, these two are the deepest sleepers at the guard position entering 2011-2012.

As far as big name players, don’t sleep on Kevin Love in that first-round in upcoming 2011-2012 drafts, and don’t undervalue last year’s rock star sleeper Dorell Wright. Some may suggest we have him ranked way too high in the third-round, but this kid could be worth a high-second round grab when all is said and done in 2012. I’m not sure why Wright is still underrated!

1.11 – Wall, John

1.12 – Wade, Dwyane

Observations

Blake Griffin is one of our biggest breakout candidates heading into the 2011-2012 fantasy basketball season. Griffin is going to be on everyone’s radar entering the 2011-2012 fantasy season, so you won’t get him cheap, but we think he can be a top 2-3 overall player when all is said and done… so take advantage and snag him early if you have to… you will be sick to your stomach watching someone else own Griffin this year, mark my words!

Ok, so we brought you Derrick Rose last year, and we screamed that one from the rooftops. Well, here comes one of my biggest predictions for the 2011-2012 fantasy basketball season! John Wall is going to absolutely explode this upcoming NBA season… Last year, Wall averaged 16.4 points, 4.6 rebounds and 8.3 assists per game. What kind of stats can Wall produce in the 2011-2012 NBA season, assuming we have one? How about 20-24 points, 5-6 rebounds and 10+ assists per game. Yep, that’s what I said… those stats are very close to Derrick Rose’s during his 2010-2011 breakout performance, which again we predicted. In fact, Wall will likely average 3 more assists than Rose next season, and 2-3 more rebounds per game. Rose should have him by 3-4 more scoring points per game, or more, but this means Wall is the next Derrick Rose… who do you like them apples?

Round Two

2.01 – Bryant, Kobe

2.02 – Nowitzki, Dirk

2.03 – Rondo, Rajon

2.04 – Westbrook, Russell

2.05 – Randolph, Zach

2.06 – Curry, Stephen

2.07 – Evans, Tyreke

2.08 – Bosh, Chris

2.09 – Ellis, Monta

2.10 – Gasol, Pau

2.11 – Granger, Danny

2.12 – Aldridge, LaMarcus

Observations

Stephen Curry is going to go nuts in 2011-2012! Last year, the rising star averaged 18.6 points, 3.9 rebounds and 5.8 assists per game. He should have no trouble nudging those points well into the 20s, and he should average 1-2 more rebounds and 2-3 more assists per game this upcoming NBA season. Curry could arguably finish inside the top 2-4 for fantasy guards in 2011-2012… Is that too bold? Well, that’s how we roll! John Wall and Stephen Curry are this year’s closest versions of last year’s Derrick Rose! Mark it down!

Round Three

3.01 – Smith, Josh

3.02 – Nash, Steve

3.03 – Lee, David

3.04 – Boozer, Carlos

3.05 – Lopez, Brook

3.06 – Monroe, Greg

3.07 – Jefferson, Al

3.08 – Cousins, DeMarcus

3.09 – Roy, Brandon

3.10 – Bynum, Andrew

3.11 – West, David

3.12 – Johnson, Joe

Observations

Greg Monroe was a monster last season during his rookie season. Most entering this fantasy season will look at his overall numbers of 9.4 points and 7.5 rebounds per game, which won’t standout as awesome, but Monroe really wasn’t set loose until midway through last season. During the last three months of last season, Monroe averaged a double-double almost half of the time. He also frequently had a cup of coffee with 20 and 10. Monroe should turn heads during his second NBA season, and he should average a double-double if he can stay healthy. Trust in this kid in 2011-2012, he is a monster sleeper of ours!

J.J. Hickson landing in Sacramento isn’t great for DeMarcus Cousins, but we still like Cousins… he could easily average a double-double in 2011-2012. Last year, Cousins had a strong rookie season, posting 14.1 points and 8.6 assists per game. I can easily see him score 15-17 points and 10+ rebounds per game next season. Cousins can be had as a back-up forward/center entering early 2011 fantasy basketball drafts. Take full advantage of this and get ready for starter-type numbers. Cousins should be traded for in all dynasty formats before it’s too late – He truly has “elite” written all over him!

Round Four

4.01 – Gay, Rudy

4.02 – Jennings, Brandon

4.03 – Matthews, Wesley

4.04 – Blatche, Andray

4.05 – Hickson, J.J.

4.06 – Noah, Joakim

4.07 – Wallace, Gerald

4.08 – Millsap, Paul

4.09 – Collison, Darren

4.10 – Beasley, Michael

4.11 – Holiday, Jrue

4.12 – Scola, Luis

Observations

I really like Brandon Jennings this upcoming season as a sleeper… he will probably fall a lot later than this draft slotting above, so know that, and use the ADPs to your advantage, but know he can play this good come season’s end.

Also keep an eye on Michael Beasley!

Round Five

5.01 – Flynn, Jonny

5.02 – Odom, Lamar

5.03 – Mayo, O.J.

5.04 – Horford, Al

5.05 – Gordon, Eric

5.06 – Green, Jeff

5.07 – Duncan, Tim

5.08 – Harden, James

5.09 – Iguodala, Andre

5.10 – Frye, Channing

5.11 – Hill, George

5.12 – Hibbert, Roy

Observations

Of this group, I see good upside in O.J. Mayo — I think Mayo could be a nice sleeper this season. Eric Gordon is also a nice grab so far heading into 2011-2012.

1.11 – Wade, Dwyane

1.12 – Wall, John

Observations

Blake Griffin is one of our biggest breakout candidates heading into the 2011-2012 fantasy basketball season.

Round Two

2.01 – Bryant, Kobe

2.02 – Nowitzki, Dirk

2.03 – Rondo, Rajon

2.04 – Westbrook, Russell

2.05 – Randolph, Zach

2.06 – Curry, Stephen

2.07 – Evans, Tyreke

2.08 – Bosh, Chris

2.09 – Ellis, Monta

2.10 – Gasol, Pau

2.11 – Granger, Danny

2.12 – Aldridge, LaMarcus

Observations

Stephen Curry is going to explode in 2011-2012!

Round Three

3.01 – Smith, Josh

3.02 – Nash, Steve

3.03 – Lee, David

3.04 – Boozer, Carlos

3.05 – Lopez, Brook

3.06 – Monroe, Greg

3.07 – Jefferson, Al

3.08 – Cousins, DeMarcus

3.09 – Roy, Brandon

3.10 – Bynum, Andrew

3.11 – West, David

3.12 – Johnson, Joe

Observations

I’ll admit, I wasn’t pleased to see J.J. Hickson land in Sacramento, but I still think DeMarcus Cousins could easily average a double-double in 2011-2012. Last year, Cousins had a strong rookie outing, posting 14.1 points and 8.6 assists per game. I can easily see him score 15-17 points and 10+ rebounds per game next season. Cousins can be had as a back-up forward/center entering early 2011 fantasy basketball drafts. Take full advantage of this and get ready for starter-type numbers. Cousins should be traded for in all dynasty formats before it’s too late – He truly has “elite” written all over him!

Round Four

4.01 – Gay, Rudy

4.02 – Jennings, Brandon

4.03 – Matthews, Wesley

4.04 – Blatche, Andray

4.05 – Hickson, J.J.

4.06 – Noah, Joakim

4.07 – Wallace, Gerald

4.08 – Millsap, Paul

4.09 – Collison, Darren

4.10 – Beasley, Michael

4.11 – Holiday, Jrue

4.12 – Scola, Luis

Observations

I really like Brandon Jennings this year as a sleeper… he will probably fall a lot later than this slotting above, but this is how I see him if I’m ranking these fantasy basketball players heading into 2011! Know ADPs before you head into your 2011 fantasy basketball draft – Use ADPs to your advantage if and when you can!

Also keep an eye on Michael Beasley!

Round Five

5.01 – Flynn, Jonny

5.02 – Odom, Lamar

5.03 – Mayo, O.J.

5.04 – Horford, Al

5.05 – Gordon, Eric

5.06 – Green, Jeff

5.07 – Duncan, Tim

5.08 – Harden, James

5.09 – Iguodala, Andre

5.10 – Frye, Channing

5.11 – Hill, George

5.12 – Hibbert, Roy

Observations

Of this group, I see good upside in O.J. Mayo — I think May could be a nice sleeper this year. Eric Gordon is also a nice grab so far heading into 2011-2012.

Look for more updates to this mock draft as we head into the coming months.

Carmelo Anthony officially traded to the New York Knicks! The Melo drama is officially over.

The Carmelo Anthony drama officially over, as the Denver Nuggets have traded Melo to the New York Knicks. The deal, that occurred tonight, reportedly sends Denver the following: Wilson Chandler, Raymond Felton, Danilo Gallinari, Timofey Mozgov, the Knicks 2014 first-round draft pick, the Warriors’ 2012 second-round pick, the Warriors’ 2013 second-round pick and $3 million in cash (read more on this from denverpost.com).

Carmelo will reportedly now head to New York along with Chauncey Billups, Shelden Williams, Anthony Carter and Renaldo Balkman.

Much of the details are still unknown, and there are all kinds of reports surfacing that suggest Correy Brewer is heading to New York, and other players could be on the move as well.
Ok, so the 2011 fantasy basketball season isn’t even here yet. Well, that doesn’t mean we can’t do one last 2010-2011 fantasy basketball mock draft. We want to give a special thanks to the guys at FantasyBasketball.com for putting this on [read their article on this draft here].
Updated Last: 10/7/2010

Round One

1.01 – Kevin Durant (SF, OKC) – With LeBron James sharing the ball with two elite studs in Miami this season, Kevin Durant is the only player to draft with the 1.01 pick (in any format). Durant is only going to get better, which is almost scary (or at least scary for those who don’t/won’t own him in 2010). Expect Durant to throw down 30 points and 8-10 rebounds per game this upcoming fantasy season.

1.02 – LeBron James (SF, MIA) – Despite playing with both Dwyane Wade and Chris Bosh, LeBron James deserves top three overall respect. While it’s tough to imagine LeBron playing at the same fantasy level in Miami as he did in Cleveland, we envision Wade and Bosh suffering (fantasy wise) more so than LeBron. He may score less, but it’s entirely possible his rebound and assist numbers go up enough to keep LeBron looking like LeBron.

1.03 – Chris Paul (PG, NO) – Chris Paul needs to stay healthy to earn this rank, but I believe that he will. When he plays, Paul is easily a top three, if not top two, overall fantasy player. With stud-in-the-making Darren Collison now in Indiana, that “What about Collison?” worry is no longer lingering around New Orleans. We LOVE Collison this year (read below), but he wasn’t going to steal Paul’s job away… he is so talented, though, he could have taken away opportunities, that’s for sure. Well, now Collison is gone and the Hornets need Paul more than ever! Last year, Paul averaged 18.7 points and 10.7 assists per game. While those are already insane stats, I expect a healthy Paul to crank out 22-23 points and 10-11 assists per game in 2010.

1.04 – Kobe Bryant (SG, LAL) – If this were a dynasty mock, Kobe Bryant would drop a few spots, but you can’t go wrong with Bryant anywhere inside the top 2-5. With LeBron and company in Miami, you can bet Kobe is motivated to get L.A. off to a hot start in 2010.

1.05 – Dwight Howard (C, ORL) – Dwight Howard, like Kevin Durant, will only get better over the coming years. He is only 24 years old. Howard worked with Olajuwon earlier this summer and he reportedly learned a lot from the former star. This kind of effort by Howard excites us, because if Superman can take his offensive game to the next level, he could be a top two overall fantasy basketball player. Will that season be this season? Tough to say, but you won’t see Hoard slip past us at No. 5 in any upcoming expert drafts.

1.06 – Carmelo Anthony (SF, DEN) – Carmelo Anthony could end up in Chicago, or elsewhere, entering 2010. His landing spot could affect his value for the good or the bad. His situation in Denver is solid, so staying put could be a good thing for Melo owners in 2010. If he heads to Chicago, his numbers could take a slight hit. Whether in Denver, or Chicago, it’s hard to see any situation where we rank Melo outside our top 7 overall heading into 2010. Melo can lead the NBA in scoring during any given season.

1.07 – Deron Williams (PG, UTA) – Injuries are always a concern with Deron Williams. Injuries are really the only reason this guy isn’t inside our top 5-6. When on the court he produces point guard numbers second to only Chris Paul… how many games will he miss in 2010, though?

1.08 – Derrick Rose (PG, CHI) – Derrick Rose is our surprise breakout player heading into 2010. A lot of people like Rose this upcoming season, but this ranking is how much we like him heading into 2010. Rose is the next Chris Paul and is worthy of a top 8-12 overall pick in any league/format this season. He will be without Carlos Boozer until roughly early December, but Rose will be elite no matter what’s going on with Boozer. When Boozer is on the court, Rose will score less, but his assists will increase. With Boozer out, Rose will be asked to score more. Get ready for a HUGE 2010-2011 season out of Rose! Read more on Rose here.

1.09 – Amar’e Stoudemire (PF, NY) – That Knicks offense could turn Amar’e Stoudemire into a double double machine in 2010. His eye injury is always a concern, as that issue feels like it could reemerge at any moment, but you can’t pass up Stoud’s New York upside in the 1.08-1.11 range in 2010.

1.10 – Dwyane Wade (SG, MIA) – Dwyane Wade is a tough player to rank this year.. will LeBron James, Chris Bosh and Dwyane Wade all still manage to crank out first-round fantasy numbers in 2010? It’s tough to say. Even with the risk and all the unknowns, it’s tough to let Wade fall past the 10 spot.

1.11 – Danny Granger (SF, IND) – This is where it dicey. Danny Granger deserves consideration at this spot, but a few other names could arguably go ahead of him. One wouldn’t be crazy to draft Dirk Nowitzki here, or even a Stephen Curry or a Chris Bosh.

1.12 – Dirk Nowitzki (PF, DAL) – At some point Dirk is going to slow down, but this is a redraft mock and Nowitzki has at least 1-2 years left as a first-round like talent. Draft Dirk with confidence anywhere near the bookend 12/13 picks.

Round Two

2.01 – Stephen Curry (PG, GS) – Huge upside. In a year from now, Curry could be a top 5 overall pick in all leagues and formats.

2.02 – Tyreke Evans (SG, SAC) – Tyreke Evans could be a first-round pick in all leagues and formats by this time next year.

2.03 – Chris Bosh (PF, MIA) – As stated above, it’s tough to predict which, if any, of LeBron, Bosh and Wade will suffer fantasy-wise in 2010. Even with the risk, this is about as far as we can slot Bosh in any format.

2.04 – Al Jefferson (C, UTA) – Jefferson is a good fit in Utah and should have no problem racking up double doubles on a regular basis. Paul Millsap could cut into some of Al Jefferson’s 2010 potential, but we shall see. For now, Big Al remains one of fantasy basketball’s top ranked centers across all leagues and formats.

2.05 – Monta Ellis (SG, GS) – Injuries are the only concern here.

2.06 – Rajon Rondo (PG, BOS) – Plain solid. He could get better over the course of the season as some of those Boston players slow down.

2.07 – Russell Westbrook (PG, OKC) – Russell Westbrook could have such a big 2010, he might be a top 12-14 overall ranked player come this time next year.

2.08 – Brandon Roy (SG, POR) – Solid, but tough to count on any higher than this.

2.09 – Kevin Love (PF, MIN) – Huge upside. Huge. He could still be a year away from being extremely consistent, but we like his chances of getting to that elite level as early as mid-season.

2.10 – Zach Randolph (PF, MEM) – Good value at this point, but let him fall to the bottom of the second-round in your upcoming drafts.

2.11 – Darren Collison (PG, IND) – I venture to say most will call this a big-time reach, but enjoy the show in 2010! Come season’s end, this won’t look so ridiculously high.

2.12 – Josh Smith (PF, ATL) – Overvalued in a lot of leagues if you ask us, but this seems about right… he should be ranked a lot higher than this in category leagues — Know that.

Round Three

3.01 – Steve Nash (PG, PHO) – Getting older. Does he still have an elite season left? Will the departure of Stoud hurt or help Nash in 2010?

3.02 – David Lee (C, GS) – Too low? Well, New York makes players look better than they are. We like Lee, he is getting overvalued outside of New York.

3.03 – Brook Lopez (C, NJ) – Good value here. No great value, but good value.

3.04 – Pau Gasol (PF, LAL) – Gasol is overlooked and he shouldn’t be. He could be a steal in 2010 if the undervaluing continues in early drafts.

3.05 – Joe Johnson (SG, ATL) – Will he earn all that money? Joe is always solid, but he is far from a No. 1 on anyone’s team. If you want consistent, he is your guy.

3.06 – Paul Millsap (PF, UTA) – This could be a bit high, as Millsap has to share the ball with Al Jefferson in that Utah starting line-up. Boozer will get his, but will Millsap? Getting Al Jefferson was a fantastic basketball move by the Jazz, but it crushed Millsap believers.

3.07 – David West (PF, NO) – Good value around this range.

3.08 – Andray Blatche (PF, WAS) – Monster upside, but he comes with a grip of risk. The risk is worth it around this range, but don’t reach. You won’t have to.

3.09 – Carlos Boozer (PF, CHI) – Boozer is in an ideal situation over in Chicago, but his broken hand will have him out until December. Once he returns he will be a stud and play like a borderline first-round pick. Tough to take him much higher than this in a redraft, though.

3.10 – Rudy Gay (SF, MEM) – Not amazing, but decent value here.

3.11 – Gerald Wallace (SF, CHA) – Loads of talent with loads of injury risk.

3.12 – John Wall (PG, WAS) – This relatively high for a rookie, but Wall is the real deal. If this were a dynasty mock, Wall would be a lot higher. That’s how much we like him.

<img src="http://view3.picapp.com/pictures.photo/image/8627051/cleveland-cavaliers/cleveland-cavaliers.jpg?size=234&imageId=8627051" border="0" width="234" title="Cleveland Cavaliers at Chicago Bulls" height="222" oncontextmenu="return false;" ondrag="return false;" onmousedown="return false;" alt="Apr. 25, 2010 - Chicago, ILLINOIS, UNITED STATES - epa02131785 Chicago Bulls center Joakim Noah (RO) is fouled by Cleveland Cavaliers forward J.J.

Round Four

4.01 – J.J. Hickson (PF, CLE) – Huge, huge upside. Sleeper alert!

4.02 – Andre Iguodala (SF, PHI) – Inconsistent as they come, but loads of talent still.

4.03 – Stephen Jackson (SG, CHA) – Good value as a fourth or fifth player taken on draft
day (in 12-team leagues).

4.04 – Aaron Brooks (G, HOU) – He could take his game to the next level in 2010-2011.

4.05 – LaMarcus Aldridge (PF, POR) – Good value here.

4.06 – Brandon Jennings (PG, MIL) – We could be a year early, but Jennings is going to be elite. Great value in redraft leagues this year.

4.07 – Joakim Noah (C, CHI) – He signed a $60 million dollar deal with Chicago and isn’t going anywhere now. With Carlos Boozer out until at least December with a broken hand, Noah could start off the 2010-2011 season with a bang.

4.08 – Luis Scola (PF, HOU) – Solid.

4.09 – Antawn Jamison (PF, CLE) – With LeBron James in Miami, Jamison could have a monster 2010. He is getting up there in age, so that’s what’s keeping him slotted so low, though. Good upside but risk is attached.

4.10 – Jrue Holiday (PG, PHI) – Rising star? We think so.

4.11 – Chris Kaman (C, LAC) – Injury concerns limit his value. This could be a good thing if he falls into the fifth- and sixth rounds.

4.12 – Al Horford (C, ATL) – Could improve a lot this season. A lot.

Missed The Cut

Gilbert Arenas, Blake Griffin, Hedo Turkoglu, Paul Pierce, Tim Duncan, Tony Parker, Ramon Sessions, Andre Miller, Andrew Bogut, Emeka Okafor, Jason Thompson, Jeff Green, Anthony Morrow, Danilo Gallinari, DeJuan Blair, John Salmons, Hakim Warrick, Marcus Camby, Elton Brand, Al Thornton, Vince Carter, Jason Kidd, Baron Davis, Manu Ginobili, Ty Lawson, Marcus Thornton, Kevin Martin, Terrence Williams, Jason Richardson, O.J. Mayo, George Hill, Rodney Stuckey, Devin Harris, Jamal Crawford, Raymond Felton, Johnny Flynn

Looking for 2010-2011 Fantasy Basketball Rookie Rankings and Analysis? Look no further.

Below you will find my 2010 Fantasy Basketball Rookie Rankings based off line-up requirements of: 2Gs, 2Fs, 1C and 1Flex. Scoring: Reb=1pt, Asst=1pt, Scoring Point=1pt, Steal=1pt, Blk=1pt (field goal %=n/a). These rankings are based on dynasty formats but have redraft expectations mixed in. Enjoy.

2010 Fantasy Basketball Rookie Rankings

1. John Wall, PG, Washington Wizards

John Wall is head and shoulders above the rest of this 2010-2011 draft class. In his first season, Wall could average 18 points and 6-8 assists per night. Rookie of the year is his to lose already and he might be one of the better PGs in the entire league on the year. This kid is that good.

2. DeMarcus Cousins, F/C, Sacramento Kings

The Kings hired Otis Hughley (DeMarcus Cousins’ old high school coach) to be an assistant coach in Sacramento. Given how young Cousins is, having a mentor should help Cousins mature rather quickly. He had some big summer league games and is set to have a fine rookie campaign. In just one season, this kid could be a double-double lock in this league.

3. Evan Turner, SF, Philadelphia 76ers

Evan Turner was thought to be one of the most NBA ready players coming out of the 2010 NBA draft class, but he hasn’t impressed many people thus far. Still, his upside is huge and he could eventually develop into a very strong fantasy player. Don’t pass on grabbing him if the price is right… then just hang onto him. He will take a year or two to develop

4. Derrick Favors, PF, New Jersey Nets

Derrick Favorsis only 19 and has monster upside. MONSTER upside! That said, Troy Murphy is now in New Jersey and he could limit Favors’ playing time and development in 2010. Murphy’s contract expires after the 2010-2011 season, so Favors could start to show his real upside next season along side Brook Lopez. For now, he is a strong project player.

5. Tiago Splitter, C/F, San Antonio Spurs

Tiago Splitter was drafted in 2007, but this will be his first NBA season. While he could be a year away from exploding onto the scene, you better grab him now in all dynasty formats. He has the potential to be an every night double-double and he could be the future leader of this team. Some question whether his game will translate over to the NBA — We think it will. Get ready Spurs fans, this kid can ball!

6. Al-Farouq Aminu, SF, Los Angeles Clippers

Al-Farouq Aminu could start right away for the Clippers. Blake Griffin will soon be the foundation of that squad, but Aminu could turn into an important piece of that starting unit.

7. Jordan Crawford, SG, Atlanta Hawks

Jordan Crawford is a scoring machine, but he might not be a big assist or rebound guy — At least at first. He could develop in those areas, and on defense, but it won’t matter too much in 2010. Crawford will play behind Joe Johnson this year, so don’t expect huge numbers as a rookie (at least consistent numbers that is). He has huge upside, though, so dynasty league owners should keep a close eye on this kid.

8. Quincy Pondexter, F, New Orleans Hornets

Quincy Pondexter dropped over 19 points-per-game at Washington University. Pondexter could get some serious run right away in New Orleans. He could develop if Chris Paul hangs around.

9. Greg Monroe, C, Detroit Pistons

Greg Monroe (toe surgery) looked good in his summer league games and he has huge upside in deep dynasty leagues. The big man is a good passer and should start to develop by his second season.

10. Paul George, F, Indiana Pacers

It’s going to be tough for Paul George to ever be an elite player on that Pacers’ roster, with Darren Collison and Danny Granger already stealing the show. Talent alone has him ranking this high, but he won’t shine until he finds himself in a different situation (trade, injury, etc.).

11. Gordon Hayward, SF, Utah Jazz

The same thing I just wrote above about Paul George applies here… Gordon Hayward is on a team loaded with talent, so it’s going to be tough for him to be any kind of fantasy stud. Hayward is a good perimeter shooter but he won’t be very consistent with Deron Williams, Al Jefferson and Paul Millsap always commanding the ball.

12. James Anderson, SG, San Antonio Spurs

James Anderson is 6’6 and was a fine player at Oklahoma State (averaging over 22 points-per-game). He won’t likely start much at all in 2010, but he will contribute off the bench and show us what kind of upside he in fact has. He isn’t roster worthy in even medium size dynasty leagues — Yet.

13. Wesley Johnson, SF Minnesota Timberwolves

Wesley Johnson can rebound and he is a good defender, but he might not ever be a big-time scorer in this league.

Updated Last: 9/10/2010

2.03 – Carlos Boozer (PF, CHI) – Boozer is in an ideal situation over in Chicago. Derrick Rose is one of the league’s most promising point guards and Boozer proved in Utah how well he can do when paired with such an elite passing talent. Now, if Carmelo Anthony lands in Chicago, clearly Boozer’s value could take a hit. Monitor the news over the next couple weeks and adjust accordingly if a Chicago deal goes down.

2.04 – Chris Bosh (PF, MIA) – As stated above, it’s tough to predict which, if any, of LeBron, Bosh and Wade will suffer fantasy-wise in 2010. Even with the risk, this is about as far as we can slot Bosh in any format.

2.05 – Al Jefferson (C, UTA) – Jefferson is a good fit in Utah and should have no problem racking up double doubles on a regular basis. Paul Millsap could cut into some of Al Jefferson’s 2010 potential, but we shall see. For now, Big Al remains one of fantasy basketball’s top ranked centers across all leagues and formats.

2.06 – Monta Ellis (SG, GS) – Injuries are the only concern here.

2.07 – Rajon Rondo (PG, BOS) – Plain solid. He could get better over the course of the season as some of those Boston players slow down.

2.08 – Russell Westbrook (PG, OKC) – Russell Westbrook could have such a big 2010, he might be a top 12-14 overall ranked player come this time next year.

2.09 – Brandon Roy (SG, POR) – Solid, but tough to count on any higher than this.

2.10 – Joe Johnson (SG, ATL) – Will he earn all that money? Joe is always solid, but he is far from a No. 1 on anyone’s team. If you want consistent, he is your guy. If you want a home run type grab in the second, one might want to roll the dice with a Darren Collison type.

2.11 – Zach Randolph (PF, MEM) – Good value at this point, but let him fall to the bottom of the second-round in your upcoming drafts.

2.12 – Darren Collison (PG, IND) – I venture to say most will call this a big-time reach, but enjoy the show in 2010! Come season’s end, this won’t look so ridiculously high.

3.03 – Kevin Love (PF, MIN) – Huge upside, but is he still a good year away from taking that next step in this league?

3.04 – Brook Lopez (C, NJ) – Good value here. No great value, but good value.

3.05 – Pau Gasol (PF, LAL) – Gasol is overlooked and he shouldn’t be. He could be a steal in 2010 if the undervaluing continues in early drafts.

3.06 – Josh Smith (PF, ATL) – Overvalued in a lot of leagues if you ask us.

3.07 – Paul Millsap (PF, UTA) – This could be a bit high, as Millsap has to share the ball with Al Jefferson in that Utah starting line-up. Boozer will get his, but will Millsap? Getting Al Jefferson was a fantastic basketball move by the Jazz, but it crushed Millsap believers.

3.08 – David West (PF, NO) – Good value around this range.

3.09 – Andray Blatche (PF, WAS) – Monster upside, but he comes with a grip of risk. The risk is worth it around this range, but don’t reach. You won’t have to.

Round Four

4.01 – J.J. Hickson (PF, CLE) – Huge, huge upside. Sleeper alert!

4.02 – Andre Iguodala (SF, PHI) – Inconsistent as they come, but loads of talent still.

4.03 – Stephen Jackson (SG, CHA) – Good value as a fourth or fifth player taken on draft day (in 12-team leagues).

4.04 – Johnny Flynn (PG, MIN) – Rising star, or overrated? We will soon know the answer to this.

4.05 – LaMarcus Aldridge (PF, POR) – Good value here.

4.06 – Brandon Jennings (PG, MIL) – We could be a year early, but Jennings is going to be elite. Great value in redraft leagues this year.

4.07 – Joakim Noah (C, CHI) – Strong center in 2010. Monitor his situation, as his name has come up in recent trade talks for Carmelo Anthony. If moved, his value could go up or down depending on the landing spot.

Gilbert Arenas, Blake Griffin, Hedo Turkoglu, Paul Pierce, Tim Duncan, Tony Parker, Ramon Sessions, Andre Miller, Andrew Bogut, Emeka Okafor, Jason Thompson, Jeff Green, Anthony Morrow, Danilo Gallinari, DeJuan Blair, John Salmons, Hakim Warrick, Marcus Camby, Elton Brand, Al Thornton, Vince Carter, Jason Kidd, Aaron Brooks, Baron Davis, Manu Ginobili, Ty Lawson, Marcus Thornton, Kevin Martin, Terrence Williams, Jason Richardson, O.J. Mayo, George Hill, Rodney Stuckey, Devin Harris, Jamal Crawford, Raymond Felton
